Ecosystems Evolve, People Become

Dear Abba,

Redemption is a plan no one should live and die without experiencing. To become is a process denoting internal and external change. It is a development exercise years in the making for anyone looking to make the most of their life.  Recently, I watched a clip of a man stating his love for God. He further expressed his intention to be born again on his deathbed, as he did not want to live for God now. When he mentioned the freedom of choice we all have, I immediately thought about idolatry. Many individuals worship free will and freedom of choice.

This category of people includes those who confess they are born again. Believers choose to accept Yahushuah and enter a covenant with God, yet they do not embark on the journey to become who they were created to be. They refuse healing, deliverance, discipline, and discipleship. They merely exist among the community of believers like those in a village without becoming a villager. Willful delay typifies self-sabotage. Image bearers delay becoming who they were meant to be in Abba Yah when they wait and stall making a life-changing decision. The process benefits life in the present and life in eternity.

Some people put off aspects of the present for a time in the future they hope to experience. That's prideful and presumptuous. If it weren't for the mercy of the Lord, ha'satan would end the lives of many who believe they have time. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I have come that they may have life, and have it in all its fullness. (John 10:10)

Judas Iscariot, a disciple, comes to mind when I think of someone without the fear of the Lord, steeped in pride and presumption. He had every opportunity to use his free will to stop stealing from the treasury belonging to Yahshuah's ministry; instead, he kept going. His sin escalated. I imagine the 30 pieces of silver he accepted for betraying the Son of God was less than any amount he stole from the treasury. Judas looked the part without becoming the person! Ecosystems evolve, and people become if they decide, dedicate themselves, and commit to the process of transformation in God.

Every born-again believer is responsible for their journey of faith. We should continually shed the old nature and take on the new nature while applying Christ's likeness to our daily life. Apathy has run rampant in our community. It is time for prevailing prayer, intercession, and discipleship to take center stage in our churches, small groups, and our homes. As a body, we must have the altars of our hearts purified for the fear of the Lord to return. In conclusion, it was over two decades that the Ruach would awaken me and say, "My people are sleeping about what hour we are in." This statement is applicable for today.

Shalom, Shalom
